Graduate studies have at their core
a strong emphasis on high quality
research made possible by state-of-the-art
equipment and internationally recognized
research programs. Below is a quick
overview of our graduate program.
Degrees Offered:
- M.S. and Ph.D. in Biology
- M.S. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry

| Affiliation with a Division
mostly affects the student's core course
curriculum. Students in any one division
may choose their research lab in the
same or any of the other two divisions.
Many faculty members belong to multiple

- Year
1 - Students will
be advised by a committee
from the
students research
division.

Courses
|
Research
- Rotations of
6 to 12 weeks in
different research
labs of interest will
occur during the first
two semesters.
- A research advisor
will be chosen during
year 1.
- A thesis committee
will be formed at the
beginning of year 2.
- A qualifying
exam will be given
to all Ph.D.
students that consists
of written and oral components.

Financial Support:
- All
students making adequate progress
are supported as Teaching
Assistants or Research Assistants.
- Support
is available for travel to
scientific meetings.
- Students
receive tuition remission
for all semesters as
Teaching Assistants or
Research Assistants.
